Succinate as an Oncometabolite in Endocrine, Mesenchymal, and Epithelial Tumors

نویسندگان

چکیده

Succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) is a multifaceted enzyme for the mitochondria of eukaryotes, which responsible converting succinate to fumarate as component in Krebs cycle. Its dysfunction occurs several malignancies associated with endocrine and epithelial tumors. SDH an enzymatic complex made some subunits. recognized oncometabolite; therefore, discovery mutations can give straight connection between changes tumorigenesis. Progresses laboratory technologies it possible make profiles identify accumulation types cancer. In this study, we reviewed potential roles mutation alteration tumorigenesis tumor markers early detection malignancies.

Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal and Mesenchymal-to-Epithelial Transition in Mesenchymal Tumors: A Paradox in Sarcomas?

The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a reversible process comprised of various subprograms via which epithelial cells reduce their intercellular adhesions and proliferative capacity while gaining a mesenchymal phenotype with increased migratory and invasive properties. This process has been well described in several carcinomas, which are cancers of epithelial origin, and is crucial...

Epithelial to mesenchymal transition in human endocrine islet cells

BACKGROUND β-cells undergo an epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) when expanded in monolayer culture and give rise to highly proliferative mesenchymal cells that retain the potential to re-differentiate into insulin-producing cells. OBJECTIVE To investigate whether EMT takes place in the endocrine non-β cells of human islets. METHODOLOGY Human islets isolated from 12 multiorgan donor...

SIRT7 inactivation reverses metastatic phenotypes in epithelial and mesenchymal tumors

Metastasis is responsible for over 90% of cancer-associated mortality. In epithelial carcinomas, a key process in metastatic progression is the epigenetic reprogramming of an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition-like (EMT) change towards invasive cellular phenotypes. In non-epithelial cancers, different mechanisms must underlie metastatic change, but relatively little is known about the factors...

Identification and prognostic significance of an epithelial-mesenchymal transition expression profile in human bladder tumors.

PURPOSE Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is reportedly an important transition in cancer progression in which the underlying cellular changes have been identified mainly using in vitro models. In this study, we examined the expression pattern of EMT markers in vivo and determined the occurrence and clinical significance of these events in a series of bladder carcinomas. EXPERIMENTAL...
